“The truth is, I had no idea what had happened.”

As the man lay on the bed in a wheelchair, he asked for his medication and the woman took it from her hands, then left the room.

He did not scream, nor did she stop and run away.

He did not say anything and when she came back, he was gone.

It was not until three days later, a police report said, that he was arrested and charged with the offence.

The woman was taken to the nearby Royal Melbourne Hospital and she had a scan on Sunday.

She had no vital signs.

The man was found by the woman’s brother in a parking lot in the nearby town of Geelong.

He had his pants pulled down and he was naked.

“She was in a state of shock,” Detective Senior Sergeant Chris McArthur said.

“They were both extremely traumatised by the incident and they are both going to be very, very upset by it.”

The man has been charged with a number of offences including assault occasioning actual bodily harm, assault occasioned by sexual motivation and aggravated assault.

Detective McArthur is yet to make any further arrests.
