Nashville wedding photographer to accept $1.9 million in prize money
Photographer Nikki Catsura, who shot the first wedding in Houston, has won $1 million in the contest to create a new portrait of President Donald Trump, according to the Associated Press.
The Associated Press reported on Thursday that Catsura will be presented with the prize money during a ceremony in New York City on Friday.
The prize is a new $500,000 national photographic fellowship.
Catsura was one of five photographers competing for the award.
Catsuras Instagram account, @NashvilleHoods, has been flooded with congratulations from people across the country, including President Trump, who tweeted that Catsuris work is “wonderful.”
The president wrote that Catsumas photos “have made me proud to be a man.”
The Associated Statesman said Catsurists work was “not only beautiful but beautiful in so many ways.”
It added that Catsure is “one of the few photographers who are able to capture the real-life feeling of the moment.”
“I don’t know how we’re going to live without them,” Catsur said of the photos, which have been viewed more than 500,000 times.
